Assam CM Outlines Lok Sabha Election Focus; Predicts Clear Victory in Upper Assam
Guwahati, 13th April: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has highlighted the key battlegrounds for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state, emphasizing the significance of the Nagaon, Karimganj, and Dhubri constituencies. Sarma indicated that while these constituencies would witness stiff competition, the remaining areas would see little contest, with the BJP expected to secure victory.
Addressing the media, CM Sarma criticized Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, questioning his connection to Jorhat constituency despite contesting from Kaliabor. Sarma accused Gogoi of neglecting Jorhat’s issues in Parliament and alleged his support for Rhino poaching suspect Rakibul Hussain. Sarma also claimed that Gogoi’s campaigners in Jorhat hail from Nagaon or Kaliabor, further distancing him from the constituency.
Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah echoed Sarma’s sentiments, expressing confidence in the BJP’s dominance in Upper Assam. Baruah predicted landslide victories with substantial margins ranging from 3 to 6 lakh votes in the five constituencies of Upper Assam.
The statements from Sarma and Baruah underscore the BJP’s optimism and strategic focus as the state gears up for the Lok Sabha elections.
