Manipur: First Phase of 18th Lok Sabha Elections Set to Commence on April 19; Polling Teams and EVMs Dispatched
Northeast Desk, 18th April: As the nation braces for the commencement of the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, preparations are underway for the first phase scheduled to take place on April 19. In this initial phase, 47 out of the total 60 Assembly segments will exercise their franchise, marking a significant milestone in the democratic process.
A total of six candidates, including Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam from the INC, Th. Basantakumar from the BJP, and Maheshwar Thounaojam from RPI (Athawale), are vying for victory in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
The voting landscape encompasses all 32 Assembly segments within the Inner Manipur PC, along with an additional 15 Assembly segments falling under the Outer Manipur PC, slated to cast their votes on the same day.
With a substantial electorate of 15,44,652 voters, comprising male, female, and third gender individuals, the polling process is set to unfold across 2107 polling stations. Voters are expected to exercise their democratic right from 7 am to 4 pm, contributing to the shaping of the nation’s future.
Amidst these preparations, DC Imphal East and DIO Khumanthem Daina Devi led the flag-off ceremony for the dispersal of polling teams, underscoring the meticulous planning and execution involved in facilitating a smooth electoral process.
