World’s Smallest Living Woman, Jyoti Amge, Casts Vote in Nagpur During Maharashtra’s Lok Sabha Elections

National Desk, 19th April: Nagpur witnessed a historic moment as Jyoti Amge, recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s smallest living woman, exercised her democratic right by casting her vote at a polling booth. Her participation highlighted the importance of every citizen’s contribution to the electoral process as the first phase of Lok Sabha elections commenced in Maharashtra.


Born on December 16, 1993, Jyoti Kishanji Amge gained global recognition for her stature, standing at 62.8 centimeters (2 ft 3⁄4 inch) due to a genetic disorder known as primordial dwarfism. Her presence at the polling booth in Nagpur today not only showcased her determination but also served as an inspiration to people across the country.


The voting process in Nagpur and other constituencies in Maharashtra started Friday morning, with a reported 7.3 per cent of the over 95 lakh eligible voters casting their ballots by 9 am. The first phase of elections in Maharashtra encompasses five seats, including Nagpur, Ramtek (SC), Bhandara-Gondia, Chandrapur, and the Naxal-hit Gadchiroli-Chimur (ST) constituency, located in the easternmost parts of the state.


Among the candidates vying for these seats is Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, adding to the significance of this electoral phase. With 97 candidates in the fray, including prominent figures and representatives from various political parties, the electoral landscape in Maharashtra is dynamic and crucial in shaping the future governance of the state.


As voting continues throughout the day, the focus remains on ensuring a fair, transparent, and peaceful electoral process that reflects the will of the people of Maharashtra.
