IMD Forecasts Cyclonic Vortex to Bring Rainfall Across Northeastern India

Guwahati, 22nd April: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Sunday the presence of a cyclonic vortex over northeastern parts of Assam, expected to result in light to moderate rainfall across the state and the northeast region.

According to the national meteorological service, Assam is anticipated to receive a considerable amount of heavy rainfall.

The Districtwise Weather Warning for Assam issued by IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati indicates that parts of the state will experience partly to generally cloudy skies with the possibility of rain and thundershowers.

Over the coming days, Assam is expected to witness partly cloudy skies in the morning, gradually becoming generally cloudy towards evening or night, accompanied by potential rain or thundershowers.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are forecasted to experience moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds until April 23. These states are also expected to receive scattered rainfall during April 25-27.

In contrast, Arunachal Pradesh is likely to face more extreme weather conditions, with isolated parts of the state anticipated to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall and snowfall.

Earlier statements from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati (RWFC), indicated that stormy weather would persist throughout the Northeast until April 23.

Furthermore, inclement weather conditions are expected to persist over parts of East, North, and South India for another day or two.
