Assamese Bihu Festival Lights Up Tadong College Auditorium in Sikkim

Guwahati, 22nd April: The Tadong College Auditorium in Sikkim was transformed into a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and infectious energy as the Assamese Bihu festival unfolded. Hosted by the Sikkim University Assamese Society (SUAS), the event served as a rallying point for Assamese students and professionals in Sikkim to come together and celebrate their main festival, Bihu.

Under the banner of SUAS, the celebration underscored the unity and camaraderie among Assamese individuals in Sikkim. Academicians, researchers, and working professionals alike converged to partake in the festivities, enriching the event with their diverse backgrounds.

The organizers left no stone unturned in curating an authentic Assamese experience for guests, treating them to traditional food and delicacies that tantalized their taste buds and transported them to the heart of Assam.

The highlight of the evening was the captivating cultural performances by students from Sikkim University. With grace and finesse, they brought Assamese traditions to life through mesmerizing performances such as “Diha Naam,” “Husori,” “Sattriya Nritya,” and “Borgeet,” leaving the audience spellbound.

Expressing their gratitude for the overwhelming response, SUAS President Deekshamoni Tamuli, Vice President Charchita Borthakur, and General Secretary Ritupon Boruah hailed the event as a resounding success. With over 250 attendees, the celebration not only fostered a sense of pride and belonging among Assamese individuals in Sikkim but also strengthened the bonds that unite communities across geographical boundaries.
