Assam CM Slams Congress Leader, Highlights BJP’s Anti-Corruption Stance

Guwahati, 23rd April: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma didn’t mince words as he took aim at Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi during an election rally in Nagaon’s Juria. Sarma dubbed Bordoloi a ‘Suitcase MP,’ alleging that the Congress leader only surfaces during elections, arriving with a suitcase and promptly leaving afterward.

Sarma didn’t stop there, likening Bordoloi’s appearance to that of an ‘Englishmen,’ suggesting that the people of Assam need to brush up on their spoken English to communicate with the Congress leader effectively. He even went as far as to accuse Bordoloi of avoiding shaking hands with the poor, comparing him to a ‘Sahabi’ who washes his hands with soap after such encounters.

Amidst the verbal jabs, Sarma pivoted to the BJP’s campaign focus, rallying support for party candidate Suresh Borah. He underscored the BJP’s commitment to rooting out corruption, contrasting it with the alleged culture of bribery during the Congress regime. Sarma highlighted instances where individuals reportedly had to bribe for government job applications, emphasizing the BJP’s efforts to eradicate such practices.

Sarma’s address wasn’t just about criticizing the opposition; he also outlined the BJP’s governance achievements. He touted a significant reduction in bribery for job applications under the BJP’s rule, attributing it to the party’s anti-corruption measures. Furthermore, Sarma unveiled plans to eliminate payments for Panchayat geo-tagging under the current government, signaling a departure from previous practices.

As election fervor intensifies in Assam, Sarma’s blistering remarks against Bordoloi and the BJP’s anti-corruption stance take center stage, setting the tone for a heated electoral battle.
