Pro-Khalistani Leader Amritpal Singh to Contest Lok Sabha Elections as Independent Candidate

Guwahati, 27th April: Amidst ongoing speculations, pro-Khalistani separatist and Waris Punjab De Chief, Amritpal Singh, is poised to enter the electoral arena by contesting the Lok Sabha polls from the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat as an Independent candidate. His mother, Balwinder Kaur, disclosed this development on April 27, affirming that pressure had been exerted on Singh to participate in the elections.

Singh’s mother emphasized that his decision to contest the polls signifies the commencement of his political journey, with Khadoor Sahib serving as his launchpad. Notably, Singh, a prominent figure in the pro-Khalistani movement, is presently incarcerated in Dibrugarh jail in Assam.

Clarifying the nature of Singh’s candidacy, Kaur stated, “This election will not be fought by him on the platform of any party. This election will be fought as an independent candidate.” She underscored Singh’s profound understanding of Punjab’s issues, indicating that his campaign would center on addressing these concerns.

Earlier, on April 25, Tarsem Singh, father of Amritpal Singh, addressed rumors surrounding his son’s potential candidacy in the Lok Sabha elections. He clarified that the family is deliberating on the matter and a final decision is yet to be made.

With Amritpal Singh’s foray into electoral politics, the dynamics of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Khadoor Sahib constituency are expected to witness heightened intrigue and scrutiny.
