Sikkim’s Tarundeep Rai and team lead India to historic Gold in Archery World Cup Stage 1

Northeast Desk, 28th April: Sikkimese archer Tarundeep Rai, alongside teammates Dhiraj Bommadevara and Pravin Jadhav, etched their names in history by securing a momentous gold medal for Team India at the Archery Recurve World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai, China. Their remarkable triumph came after a fierce battle against reigning Olympic champions South Korea, showcasing India’s burgeoning prowess in the sport.

Throughout the competition, the Indian men’s recurve team displayed exceptional talent and unwavering determination, culminating in a stunning victory against the formidable South Korean squad. In a thrilling final match, Team India exhibited ice-cool composure, strategically outmaneuvering their opponents to secure victory without dropping a single set, with a commanding scoreline of 5-1 (57-57, 57-55, 55-53) in India’s favor.

This historic win marked India’s fifth gold medal at the ongoing World Cup event, further solidifying the nation’s dominance in archery. Prior to this triumph, Indian compound archers had already showcased their prowess by clinching gold across various categories, including the men’s, women’s, and mixed-team events.

Adding to India’s medal tally, Jyothi Surekha Vennam secured another gold medal in the women’s compound individual section, underscoring the nation’s stellar performance on the international stage.
