Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Slams Congress for Sharing Doctored Video of Amit Shah
Northeast Desk, 29th April: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, on April 29, lashed out at the Indian National Congress for disseminating a manipulated video of Home Minister Amit Shah on social media platforms.
Taking to Twitter, Rijiju shared a split-screen video displaying the stark contrast between the doctored and authentic versions. In his tweet, he condemned the Congress Party, stating, “Shame on Congress Party. I strongly condemn Congress for spreading a fake & edited video. Home Minister @AmitShah ji’s words have been twisted. Misleading the public is a disservice to democracy. This irresponsible behaviour has the potential to disrupt peace.”
Rijiju underscored that distorting Shah’s statements not only misguides the public but also undermines the democratic fabric of the nation, cautioning against the repercussions that such irresponsible actions could have on societal harmony.
Prior to Rijiju’s condemnation, the Delhi Police initiated legal proceedings by lodging an FIR against the circulation of manipulated videos. The Ministry of Home Affairs extended support to the complaint, prompting the Special Cell of the Delhi Police to register the FIR under pertinent sections of the IPC and IT Act. Authorities anticipate nationwide arrests in connection with the case, signaling a stringent response to the dissemination of misinformation.
