Meghalaya: Rubber-loaded Truck Ignites on National Highway, Causes Traffic Congestion
Northeast Desk, 29th April: A rubber-loaded truck, identified by registration number JK 05 H 0666, burst into flames today around 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Jyntru village along National Highway 06, causing significant disruption to traffic flow.
The incident resulted in minor injuries to the driver and helper, who were swiftly transported via a 108 ambulance to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for medical attention, ensuring timely care for the injured individuals.
Upon receiving the distress call, Ri Bhoi District Police and Ri Bhoi District Fire and Emergency teams promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze. However, despite their efforts, the fire persisted, fully engulfing the truck and leading to significant traffic congestion lasting over 2 to 3 hours.
The incident underscores the importance of prompt emergency response and highlights the challenges faced by authorities in managing such emergencies effectively to minimize disruptions to public safety and traffic flow.
