
27 Employees Temporarily Suspended Following Tripura Lok Sabha Elections
Guwahati, 30th April: In the aftermath of the Lok Sabha elections in Tripura, 27 employees from various state departments have been temporarily suspended from their duties. This action follows reported violations of the election model code of conduct and instances of negligence in election-related tasks, as stated by the office of Chief Electoral Officer Tripura.
In a letter addressed to the higher authorities of the respective departments, Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal stressed the importance of departmental disciplinary action against the suspended employees. The letter emphasized the necessity of upholding electoral integrity and adhering to prescribed protocols during the electoral process.
Furthermore, Agarwal specified that any department seeking to revoke the temporary suspension of its employees must obtain consent from the Election Commission of India. This process mandates engagement through the office of the Chief Election Officer of the state, ensuring accountability and procedural compliance.
