Amit Shah Criticizes Congress, Touts BJP’s Electoral Gains
Guwahati, 30th April: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing them of sowing seeds of confusion and social discord by advocating for religious reservations, a stance vehemently opposed by the BJP.
Speaking at a press conference in Guwahati, Shah condemned Congress’s push for religious reservations, particularly their attempt to reclassify Muslims into the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, which he deemed troubling.
Meanwhile, the BJP and its allies continue to make significant gains in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, steadily approaching and even surpassing the 100-seat milestone. Notably, their appeal appears to be spreading into the southern regions of the country, reflecting a trend observed in previous electoral patterns. With optimism about crossing the 400-seat threshold, BJP leaders express confidence in their upward trajectory.
However, Shah cautioned against what they perceive as concerted efforts by the Congress to undermine their electoral achievements, characterizing these efforts as a deliberate strategy aimed at distorting the BJP’s success.
Highlighting their governance track record, Shah emphasized their decade-long tenure marked by majority victories and significant legislative reforms, particularly in overturning antiquated laws dating back to the British colonial era.
Despite accusations from the Congress of spreading misinformation, BJP reassures the public of their commitment to preserving reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), asserting that constitutional provisions safeguarding their rights will remain intact.
Moreover, Shah denounced Congress’s alleged dissemination of deep fake videos and rumors, urging people to seek the truth and not be swayed by false information.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across the country, signaling an end to what he termed as Congress’s appeasement tactics.
