Guwahati, 2nd May: A tragic bus accident in Dima Hasao resulted in the loss of one life and left numerous passengers critically injured. The incident involved a Tripura-bound night bus, bearing the registration number AS 01 MC 0243, which veered off the highway after losing control.
The bus, en route from Tripura to Guwahati, was carrying passengers, including students heading for exams at the Tripura Cooperative Bank.
The deceased passenger has been identified as Devraj Devvarman, with his home reportedly in the Dhalai district of Tripura. At least 30 passengers sustained injuries, with six of them in critical condition.
Swift action was taken to transport the critically injured passengers to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for urgent medical care. Additionally, some injured individuals were transferred to Harangajao for specialized treatment.
The accident occurred late at night when the bus lost control on the Behal road in Ditokcherra, Haflong, and fell onto the road. Prompt assistance from locals aided in rescuing passengers from the scene.
Efforts are ongoing to provide necessary medical attention and support to the injured passengers, while authorities investigate the cause of the accident.
