Manipur: Member of proscribed outfit KCP(Noyon) arrested by Security forces in Thoubal District
Northeast Desk, 2nd May: Manipur police on May 1 apprehended Thoudam Nanao Singh, also known as Chingsanglakpa or Putra, an S/S Sergeant Major of the proscribed KCP (Noyon) organization. During the arrest in the Waithou area of Thoubal District, a .32 Pistol, a magazine, and six live rounds were retrieved from his possession. The police confirmed the arrest through their official handle, highlighting the successful operation.
Additionally, on May 30, police apprehended two cadres of the proscribed outfit PREPAK (Pro). Naoroibam Joyshangker, known as Loyumba or Khougang, and Thingom Suresh, known as Boy, were detained from different locations in Imphal East District. These arrests signify the ongoing efforts by security forces to maintain peace and security in the region.
In response to these arrests and to ensure public safety, security forces conducted search operations and area domination in fringe and vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts. Moreover, measures were taken to facilitate the movement of essential items, with 135 and 257 vehicles ensured safe passage along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively.
Stringent security measures were implemented in vulnerable locations, with security convoys provided in sensitive stretches to ensure the free and safe movement of vehicles. Additionally, a total of 128 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed across different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and valley regions. Police detained 106 individuals in connection with violations in various districts of the state, demonstrating the authorities’ commitment to maintaining law and order.
