16-Year-Old Allegedly Raped Multiple Times by Men Met on Social Media in Tripura; arrested

Northeast Desk, 2nd May: In Tripura’s Sepahijala district, a disturbing case of sexual assault has come to light, with a 16-year-old girl allegedly raped multiple times by two men she met on social media.

The Tripura Police have taken swift action, arresting Saddam Hossain, a married resident of Kulubari under the Sonamura Sub-division in Sepahijala district, in connection with the case. Hossain is accused of raping the minor girl in the Bishalgarh sub-division.

According to police sources, the victim and the accused initially connected on social media in March of this year. Subsequently, Saddam allegedly used various means to lure the girl, ultimately subjecting her to multiple instances of rape and threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the assaults.

The situation escalated on April 27 when Saddam, along with another friend, reportedly raped the girl again. Fortunately, the victim managed to escape and courageously returned home, where she promptly filed a written complaint against Saddam and his accomplice at the Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station.

Following the complaint, the police swiftly apprehended Saddam Hossain on Tuesday night. He was presented before the court and remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation into the disturbing case.

The incident underscores the dangers associated with online interactions and highlights the urgent need for enhanced awareness and protection measures to safeguard vulnerable individuals, especially minors, from exploitation and abuse in the digital realm.
