Assault on Assam Youths by Outsiders Sparks Outrage, Allegations of Inaction Against Railway Police
Guwahati, 2nd May: A disturbing incident unfolded aboard the Agartala-Silchar train as youths from outside Assam unleashed a violent assault on three individuals from Patharkandi, Karimganj. The altercation, reportedly incited by uncouth behavior and lewd remarks from a young man identified as Pritam Deb from Dharmanagar, Tripura, escalated into a brutal attack upon the train’s arrival at Dharmanagar station.
Eyewitness accounts describe approximately 25 assailants descending upon the Assam youths, inflicting severe injuries and leaving one victim unconscious. Shockingly, the assault occurred in full view of the Dharmanagar Government Railway Police Force (GRPF), prompting allegations of inaction against the authorities.
The victims, hailing from Patharkandi, recounted the harrowing ordeal, underscoring the need for swift justice and accountability for the perpetrators. The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the safety of passengers traveling through the region.
