Guwahati, 5th May: Assam witnessed intense campaigning on May 5 in the run-up to the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The highlight was an enormous motorcycle rally led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma that roared through the streets of Guwahati.
The high-decibel bike rally originated at Khanapara on the city’s outskirts early this morning. As the procession of hundreds of motorcycles made its way into the heart of Guwahati, enthusiastic supporters thronged the roadside, showering flower petals on the Chief Minister’s convoy.
Sarma, who has crisscrossed the state to bolster his party’s prospects, took to Twitter to chronicle the adrenaline-fueled event, calling it a “roadshow-turned-rally”. Visuals showed the Chief Minister surrounded by cheering supporters as the motorcade inched forward.
