PM Narendra Modi Files Nomination from Varanasi for Lok Sabha Elections

National Desk, 14th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially filed his nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on May 14. The nomination took place at the District Magistrate’s office in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Modi, the incumbent MP and BJP candidate, aims to retain his seat in the upcoming elections.

The Prime Minister began his day with a series of spiritual engagements, starting with prayers at the Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of the Ganges. Following this, he offered obeisance at the Kal Bhairav Temple, continuing his tradition of seeking blessings before formal proceedings. Heightened security measures were implemented around the District Magistrate’s office in anticipation of his nomination.

Priest Raaman, who accompanied Modi during the Ganga puja, remarked, “Ganga puja was performed today for the welfare of the country and for the success of PM Modi’s next term, aiming for global recognition for India.”

In the Varanasi constituency, the Congress has fielded its Uttar Pradesh chief Ajay Rai, while the BSP has nominated Athar Jamal Lari. The elections in Varanasi are scheduled for June 1, which marks the seventh and final round of the general elections.

Later in the day, at 5 PM, PM Modi will lead a roadshow in Varanasi, engaging directly with the constituents.

In a recent interview with Times Now, PM Modi expressed his deep emotional connection with Varanasi, likening it to a bond between a son and his mother. He described his relationship with Kashi (Varanasi) as “Meri Kashi,” emphasizing a personal connection that transcends the usual ties between a public representative and his constituency.
