
Sikkim Cricketer Nilesh Lamichaney Scores Century for Barnoldswick Cricket Club in England
Northeast Desk, 15th May: Sikkim’s outstanding young batsman, Nilesh Lamichaney, recently scored a century for the Barnoldswick Cricket Club in England, participating in the NCWL Championship. This remarkable achievement marks Lamichaney’s successful foray into overseas cricket.
The Sikkim Cricket Association (SCA) congratulated Lamichaney on this significant milestone, underscoring his contributions to Sikkim’s Ranji Trophy journey and his leadership roles within the Sikkim senior men’s team. The association stated, “This is a significant moment for Lamichaney, one of Sikkim’s finest cricketers, as he plays overseas cricket for the first time. He has notable contributions to Sikkim’s Ranji Trophy journey and his leadership roles within the Sikkim senior men’s team.”
Lamichaney’s cricketing credentials include making his List A debut for Sikkim in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 20 September 2018, where he captained the team in their inaugural competition at List A level. Notably, in Sikkim’s second match, he became the first player to score a century for the team, with an impressive 123 against Arunachal Pradesh on 21 September 2018.
He continued to make his mark in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, making his first-class debut on 1 November 2018, and his Twenty20 debut for Sikkim in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 21 February 2019.
