Assam: Heat-Related Incident Sparks Concern at North Govardhana High School in Baksa

Guwahati, 15th May: In Salbari, Baksa, a troubling incident unfolded today at North Govardhana High School, as a student collapsed due to the intense heat. This incident adds to a string of health-related concerns in the area, amplifying worries about student safety.

Reports indicate that the student lost consciousness during school hours, prompting swift action from school authorities. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, they arranged for the student’s immediate transfer to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

This incident follows a similar occurrence yesterday, where ten students from the same school fainted due to the oppressive heat. The repeated incidents have sparked deep concern among students and their families regarding safety measures at the school.

In light of these events, the All Bodoland Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) has voiced apprehensions about the lack of proactive measures from the district administration and education department to address student welfare. They assert that insufficient actions have been taken to alleviate the impact of the ongoing heatwave on students, calling for urgent attention to mitigate future risks.
