Assam: Man arrested for allegedly murdering wife in Kokrajhar
Guwahati, 19th May: In a shocking incident, a man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife in Karimganj district of Assam on May 19.
The incident has occurred in Jabainpur village of the district.
As per the police the arrested person has been identified as Abdul Shahid.
They were residents of Bakarshal Nairgram Gram Panchayat in South Karimganj Panchayat Samiti which is a part of Karimganj Zila Parishad.
The deceased has been identified as Joba Begum.
It is alleged that Abdul allegedly stabbed his wife with a sharp machete.
As per the eyewitnesses, the incident took place around 5 am today.
Following the attack, locals immediately rushed Joba Begum to Karimganj Civil Hospital for medical attention. However, upon arrival, Joba was declared death by the doctors.
Meanwhile, Joba’s body was transferred for postmortem.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Kamrigang police officials immediately arrived at the spot and have arrested the accused.
Sources informed that the couple had three children together.
It has come to light that Abdul Shahid, the husband, had been struggling with mental health issues since the inception of their union.
It is suspected that the prima facie motive seems to be property-related within Abdul Shahid’s family.
Moreover, the case remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence and statements from witnesses to piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome.
