Shyama Shree Sherpa Represents Sikkimese Nepali Film at 2024 Cannes International Film Festival

Northeast Desk, 20th May: Actor and producer Shyama Shree Sherpa attended the 2024 Cannes International Film Festival, showcasing her film “Tara, The Lost Star.” This screening marks a historic moment as it is the first Sikkimese-Nepali film to be featured at Cannes.

Sherpa expressed her pride in the achievement, stating, “I am glad to announce that it’s a historic moment for all the Sikkimese and Nepalis as for the first time a Sikkimese-Nepali film named ‘Tara, The Lost Star’ will screen on May 20 at the biggest film festival in the world, the Cannes International Film Festival ‘Marché Du Film, Cannes de Festival.'”

Directed by Samten Bhutia and produced by Sabitri Chettri, “Tara, The Lost Star” is a presentation of SaDa Productions in association with Passang Mintok Films. The film highlights the stunning landscapes of Sikkim’s Gnathang Valley and Memencho Lake and stars Shyama Shree Sherpa and Kiran Dahal, with Deoraj Sherpa and Loonibha Tuladhar in primary roles.

Sherpa praised the dedication of the film’s team, congratulating them for their significant representation on such a prestigious international platform.
