Assam: Karimganj Police Seize Suspected Heroin Worth Rs 2 Crore, Arrest Drug Trafficker

Guwahati, 22nd May: In a significant anti-drug operation, Karimganj Police seized around 300 grams of suspected heroin from the Deokuri area of Kaliganj, with an estimated market value of Rs 2 crore. The police also apprehended a suspected drug trafficker in connection with the seizure.

Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a passenger vehicle, registration number AS/11/CC/3654, in the Deokuri area. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 25 packets, each containing suspected heroin, totaling approximately 300 grams. The arrested individual has been identified as Burhan Uddin, a resident of Bagbari in Kaliganj.

This operation follows a recent major crackdown by the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police, who conducted a successful raid in the Koinadhara area under Basistha Police Station limits in Guwahati. During this raid, the STF team seized 23 vials containing approximately 30.5 grams of suspected heroin, along with other incriminating materials.

The Karimganj police and STF’s efforts highlight ongoing efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in the region.
