Arunachal Pradesh’s Kabak Yano Conquers Mount Everest, Fifth Woman from the State to Achieve the Feat
Northeast Desk, 22nd May: Arunachal Pradesh has yet another reason to celebrate as Kabak Yano, hailing from Kamle district, etched her name in history by scaling the world’s highest mountain peak, Mt Everest (8848.6 m). Her triumphant ascent, completed at 11:50 am on May 21, 2024, marks a remarkable achievement not only for herself but also for the state.
Kabak Yano joins the esteemed ranks of four other Arunachali women mountaineers—Tine Mena, Anshu Jamsenpa, Muri Linggi, and Tashi Yangjom—who have previously conquered Mt Everest. Together, they embody the indomitable spirit and determination of Arunachal Pradesh’s mountaineering community.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu took to his social media account to extend heartfelt congratulations to Kabak Yano for her extraordinary accomplishment. In his message, he praised her dedication and perseverance, emphasizing her inspiring journey from Arunachal Pradesh to the pinnacle of the world’s highest peak.
Kabak Yano’s ascent of Mt Everest is a testament to her unwavering commitment, evidenced by her completion of rigorous mountaineering courses and previous successes, including scaling Mt UT Kangri and nearly conquering Mt Nun. Her resilience and determination serve as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring mountaineers and the entire community.
Hailing from Kamle district, Kabak Yano is not only a mountaineer but also a student at the Rashtriya Raksha University, Pasighat campus, and a member of the state’s women’s cricket team.
