Nagaland: Wokha Police Arrest Bank Employees for Embezzling Over Rs 14 Lakh from School Account
Northeast Desk, 26th May: Wokha police have arrested two employees of a private sector bank on charges of allegedly embezzling Rs 14,62,500 from the account of DBHSS Wokha, funds that were designated for fee collection purposes since January 8, 2013. The incident, which occurred on May 20, came to light on May 25, prompting swift action from the authorities.
In a press release, Additional SP and PRO K Soriso stated that the branch head of the bank filed a complaint alleging the embezzlement. The accused, identified as cashier Lochumbeni Erui and assistant sales manager Tungdemo Murry, were apprehended following the complaint.
The police investigation revealed that Erui and Murry had secretly misappropriated the funds. They had earlier confessed their involvement in the embezzlement of school fees. Consequently, a case has been registered against them at Wokha Police Station.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to uncover further details of the embezzlement scheme.
