Guwahati, 30th May: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Guwahati has issued an urgent weather forecast predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall over several districts in Assam for the next three hours.
The districts under alert include:
- Bajali
- Baksa
- Barpeta
- Bongaigaon
- Chirang
- Darrang
- Dhubri
- Dima Hasao
- Goalpara
- Kamrup
- Kamrup Metropolitan
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has urged people to stay indoors and avoid open areas where they might be exposed to lightning strikes. Additionally, securing loose objects and safeguarding electrical appliances is recommended to minimize potential damage.
The ASDMA’s alert aims to prepare the public for potential weather-related disruptions and ensure the community’s well-being during this period of adverse weather conditions.
