Manipur: Loktak Development Authority (LDA) Leads Flood Rescue Efforts in Imphal

Northeast Desk, 30th May: Under the vigilant supervision of Chief Minister Biren Singh, a dedicated flood rescue team from the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) has been actively engaged in relief operations to mitigate the impact of recent floods in Imphal.

Led by LDA Chairman M. Asnikumar Singh and assisted by Project Director Bhagaton, the team has been working closely with the Chief Secretary, district administration, and other stakeholders to execute rescue and relief efforts effectively.

In a strategic move to enhance its operations, LDA has collaborated with the fishing community of Thanga. Three teams of dedicated fishermen from Thanga, equipped with their boats, have been deployed to evacuate stranded individuals from critically flood-affected areas in Imphal.

Since the onset of the floods, the LDA team has successfully rescued over 800 people and remains committed to continuing its efforts.

In addition to its collaboration with the Thanga fishing community and coordination with various agencies, LDA maintains a vigilant watch over low-lying areas surrounding Loktak Lake, preemptively addressing potential flood risks.

LDA extends its heartfelt gratitude to all involved in these crucial relief operations, particularly the fishermen from Thanga.

The LDA and its dedicated staff are resolute in their tireless commitment to supporting the comprehensive relief endeavors undertaken by the government.
