Manipur Faces Devastating Floods Amid Ongoing Unrest: Local Volunteers Lead Heroic Rescue Efforts

Northeast Desk, 30th May; Manipur, already grappling with violent unrest, is now confronting its worst flood in decades. The disaster has caused significant damage, claimed lives, and left many homeless.

In response to this crisis, local volunteers, including groups like Arambai Tengol, have been working tirelessly to aid those in need. Alongside security forces, state disaster management teams, and district administrations, these volunteers are laboring around the clock to manage the situation.

Remarkable rescue operations have taken place in the worst-affected areas of Lairikyengbam Leikai, Salanthong, and Nagaram in Imphal East district. One particularly striking rescue effort involved volunteers carrying a baby in a cauldron through floodwaters, a creative solution that ensured the child’s safety until they were reunited with their mother.

Arambai Tengol has also assisted in rescuing patients from Raj Medicity, further demonstrating their dedication. As Manipur continues to deal with the aftermath of these natural disasters, the bravery and resourcefulness of its volunteers offer a beacon of hope and strength to the entire community.
