Assam CM Hails SKM’s Resounding Victory in Sikkim Assembly Elections
Guwahati, 3rd June: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) for their significant victory in the recent Sikkim Assembly elections, securing a second consecutive term in power.
Expressing his confidence in Sikkim’s continued progress under the new government, Sarma shared his sentiments on X (formerly Twitter). “Congratulations to Sikkim Krantikari Morcha on securing the people’s mandate to serve Sikkim for a second consecutive term,” he wrote.
He further stated, “I’m confident that under the leadership of Shri @PSTamangGolay ji and the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, Sikkim will continue on its developmental journey with full vigour.”
The SKM achieved a landslide victory, winning 31 out of the 32 seats in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. The opposition, Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), which had ruled the state for 25 years until 2019, managed to secure only one seat. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), contesting 31 seats, did not win any.
The Sikkim Assembly elections were conducted on April 19, in tandem with the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls.
