Cyclone Remal Wreaks Havoc Across Northeast India: Widespread Destruction and Loss Reported
Northeast Desk, 3rd June: Northeast India is reeling from the aftermath of Cyclone Remal, which has left a trail of widespread devastation and loss across the region. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh highlighted the dire situation on the microblogging site X, emphasizing the extensive impact beyond his own state.
“Not only in my state, my neighboring sister states are also suffering due to Cyclone Remal,” Chief Minister Singh posted.
The cyclone’s devastation is particularly severe in Assam, where over six lakh families have been affected, and 15 lives have been lost. Mizoram has also suffered greatly, with more than 30 fatalities and countless families struggling to cope with the aftermath. In Manipur, nearly 1.5 lakh families have been adversely impacted, resulting in four deaths and one person still missing. The effects of the cyclone have also been deeply felt in Meghalaya and Nagaland, where many individuals are facing significant challenges.
This regional disaster underscores the urgent need for comprehensive relief efforts and support to aid the affected communities in their recovery.
