Assam Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 8 Crore; 2 arrested
Guwahati, 6th June: In a significant anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Karbi Anglong district police, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed the seizure of a staggering cache of ‘Yaba’ tablets worth Rs 8 crore. The operation, carried out at Dillai Point, led to the interception of a vehicle, resulting in the confiscation of 40,000 Yaba tablets. Two individuals involved in the transportation of the illicit drugs have been apprehended in connection with the operation.
Moreover, law enforcement agencies in Assam have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking with commendable results. In Dibrugarh, acting on actionable intelligence, police arrested Gopi Das, a 54-year-old resident of Teporgaon. During the raid, authorities seized 416 grams of Cannabis, along with an electronic weighing machine and a sum of Rs. 32,900 in cash. Legal proceedings against Das are currently underway.
Similarly, in Nagaon district, a police team led by OC Rupahihat PS made a significant discovery, recovering a soapbox containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 10.98 grams. The accused has been taken into custody, and further legal actions are being pursued to ensure accountability and deterrence against drug-related activities.
