Manipur: Newly Elected MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam Condemns Violence in Jiribam District

Northeast Desk, 8th June: Newly elected Member of Parliament Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has strongly condemned the recent outbreak of violence in Jiribam district and alleged a conspiracy to destabilize the state.

Speaking to the media at his residence, Akoijam expressed concern over the emergence of tensions in the once-peaceful district immediately after the elections, calling it “intriguing.”

“There are certain people who wish to disintegrate Manipur,” he claimed. “It is easier to destroy the state if the crisis is prolonged. Some are intentionally trying to spread violence even in areas that have remained peaceful for nearly a year.”

The MP cautioned the people of Manipur against using provocative language on social media that could incite further violence. He urged them to be responsible and abstain from aggravating the crisis.

Alleging attempts to create a partition in Manipur, Akoijam cited the example of the Meitei-inhabited Khumujama Leikai area in Churachandpur district, which was reportedly flattened after residents were forced to relocate.

“Their activities are in line with the partition of India and Pakistan,” he claimed.

Akoijam informed that he has requested the district authorities to enhance security arrangements to ensure the safety and security of the people in the affected areas.
