Flood Ravages Majuwa Village in South Sikkim; 3 missing

Northeast Desk, 10th June: A devastating flood has wreaked havoc in Majuwa village, situated in the Yangang region of South Sikkim, on June 10, sweeping away eight houses and leaving several families homeless. Three individuals are currently missing in the aftermath of the calamity.

Triggered by incessant rainfall, the flood has prompted an extensive search operation to locate the missing persons.

Responding swiftly to the crisis, a district team led by DPO Sir, accompanied by various Disaster Management Authorities (DMAs), is en route to the affected area. Another team, headed by the Block Development Officer (BDO) and the Deputy Director of the Land Revenue and Disaster Management (LRDM), is also mobilizing to provide assistance. Additionally, a team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Yangang has been dispatched to Majuwa.

Local authorities remain on high alert, closely monitoring the situation as rescue efforts intensify. The widespread damage caused by the heavy rainfall underscores the urgent need for continued vigilance to mitigate further risks.
