Assam Government Designates 10th of Every Month as Pension and Orunodoi Day
Guwahati, 10th June: Under the stewardship of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Government of Assam has introduced a novel initiative by declaring the 10th of each month as Pension and Orunodoi Day. This pioneering program aims to extend financial support to economically disadvantaged families statewide.
Benefiting a staggering 43,80,741 individuals, the scheme boasts a remarkable monthly disbursement of Rs 384.62 crore. These funds are seamlessly deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, ensuring swift and efficient distribution.
The Orunodoi scheme encompasses a wide spectrum of financial assistance programs, including the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension and the Deen Dayal Divyangjan Sahayata Yojana. Moreover, it encompasses existing schemes such as the Shaheed Kushal Konwar Old Age Pension, National Disabled Pension, Widows Pension, and Old Age Pension, thus presenting a comprehensive safety net for vulnerable segments of society.
By institutionalizing Pension and Orunodoi Day, the Assam government underscores its unwavering commitment to uplifting marginalized communities and fostering inclusive growth across the state.
