Guwahati, 10th June: Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress party’s newly elected Member of Parliament, made a resounding declaration today, underscoring his unwavering commitment to democracy and the Indian Constitution.
In a poignant statement, Gogoi emphasized that his dedication to safeguarding democratic principles extends far beyond the outcome of the recent Lok Sabha elections. He reiterated his lifelong pledge to upholding the values enshrined in the Constitution, emphasizing the pivotal role of the Parliament in fulfilling this duty.
“Our resolve to preserve democracy and uphold the Constitution transcends mere electoral victories. This commitment is ingrained in our life’s purpose, and the Parliament serves as the paramount arena for us to fulfill our responsibilities. We endeavor to elevate the dignity of this esteemed institution to unprecedented heights,” remarked Gogoi.
Earlier, on June 7, Gaurav Gogoi had expressed skepticism regarding the future of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He highlighted the indispensable qualities of magnanimity, inclusivity, and openness required to lead a coalition government, which he believes PM Modi lacks. Gogoi’s remarks underscored the uncertainties surrounding PM Modi’s long-term tenure as Prime Minister.
On June 5, Gaurav Gogoi clinched victory in the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, triumphing over his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opponent, Topon Gogoi, by a substantial margin. Gaurav secured an impressive 7,51,771 votes, surpassing Topon’s tally of 6,07,378 votes, thereby securing victory with a commanding margin of 1,44,393 votes.
