Tripura: Mother beats 8-year-old son to death in West Joynagar
Northeast Desk, 11th June: A harrowing incident has shaken the community of West Joynagar in Tripura, where a mother allegedly beat her 8-year-old son to death on June 10 evening. The accused, identified as Suprabha Gowala, has been taken into custody by the West Agartala Police Station following the tragic event.
According to authorities, Suprabha Gowala, who had recently relocated to West Joynagar with her son after being abandoned by her husband, confessed to the crime during police questioning. The distressing revelation unfolded as Suprabha admitted to binding her son with a rope and fatally beating him with a bamboo stick.
The motive behind this heinous act, as shared by Suprabha, was her inability to cope with her son’s alleged misbehavior, which had escalated to an intolerable level. She recounted instances of her son’s purported stealing and disruptive behavior, which she claimed had overwhelmed her.
The West Agartala Police Station has registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder against Suprabha Gowala. Despite her acknowledgment of guilt and preparedness to face any consequences, including the death penalty, the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details surrounding the tragic incident.
