Nagaland Police Crackdown Nets 28 Arrests in May Over Drug and Arms Seizures
Northeast Desk, 13th June: In a proactive move against illicit activities, the Nagaland Police conducted operations resulting in the arrest of 28 individuals and the registration of 17 cases throughout May. The crackdown targeted the widespread availability and use of synthetic drugs, psychotropic substances, and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) across the state.
Between May 16 and 31, police action under the Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances Act led to nine cases being registered against 21 individuals. The seizures included 466.92 grams of brown sugar and 57 grams of heroin. Simultaneously, seven cases were filed, and six individuals were apprehended following the confiscation of 4,740 units of IMFL.
In a separate incident, law enforcement seized a rifle, six live rounds, and one magazine, resulting in one arrest and a corresponding case registration.
The Nagaland Police underscored their ongoing commitment to combatting illegal activities through statewide operations, encompassing intensive vehicle checks (MVCP), raids, and inspections of hospitality establishments. They urged the public to promptly report any information related to the sale or distribution of narcotics, drugs, or IMFL to the nearest police or narcotic police station.
Additionally, the police highlighted the ‘Call Your Cop’ mobile app, designed to facilitate easy access to contact details for Nagaland Police officers and stations. They assured the public that informants’ identities would remain confidential.
These efforts reflect the Nagaland Police’s proactive stance in maintaining law and order and curbing the menace of drug trafficking and arms proliferation within the state.
