Elderly Man Injured in Police Dog Attack in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills

Northeast Desk, 14th June: An elderly man sustained injuries after being attacked by a police dog in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills district, officials reported on Thursday.

The incident occurred inside a police station after Solin Suting was apprehended around 2 am from a location near the India-Bangladesh border. Suting was brought to the police station for verification as he was found in possession of a Bangladeshi ID card, according to West Jaintia Hills District SP C Syrti.

While at the station, a police dog unexpectedly attacked Suting, causing injuries. Suting claimed in a video posted online that the police officers who detained him were intoxicated and threatened him not to disclose the incident.

SP Syrti has denied these allegations. Following the incident, Suting’s family took him to a hospital where he received treatment and was subsequently discharged.
