Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 48 Crore in Major Busts
Guwahati, 18th June: In a decisive action against drug trafficking, the Assam Police have successfully conducted two separate operations in Sivasagar and Karbi Anglong districts, seizing drugs worth Rs 48 crore. These operations also led to the arrest of three drug peddlers.
In Sivasagar, police intercepted a vehicle and recovered 399 soap cases of heroin weighing approximately 4.6 kg. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with this seizure.
Meanwhile, in another significant operation, Golaghat Police recovered 8.033 kg of morphine valued at Rs 8 crore, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the Assam Police on the social media platform X, stating, “Striking the Drugs Network; Drugs recovered worth Rs 48 crore! Good job Team Assam.”
These successful operations underscore Assam’s relentless efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance public safety.
