STF Busts Drug Peddling Operations in Assam, Seizes Heroin and Contraband

Guwahati, 19th June: In a decisive operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam carried out raids that led to the apprehension of three suspected drug peddlers at Urban Inn Lodge, Room No. 106, located at Bye-Lane 3, Sadhani Path, Rukmini Gaon. Conducted on the evening of June 18 under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station, the raid resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of suspected heroin and assorted contraband items.

During the operation, STF officials confiscated two soap boxes and 34 vials containing a total of 69 grams of suspected heroin. They also recovered Rs. 5700 in cash, 200 empty vials, four mobile phones, and a .32 pistol-like metallic gas lighter. Acting on information provided by the detained suspects, the STF further seized a Swift Tour vehicle (registration number AS 01 FA 0208) and a Honda Aviator (registration number AS 01 DQ 3334) from the premises of the lodge.

The individuals arrested in connection with the operation were identified as Md. Aftar Hussain, 32, from Nowapara, Satgaon, Kamrup (M); Khiyati Ranjan Gogoi, 26, from Banipur, near the railway station, Dibrugarh; and Saddam Hussain, 28, from near Panjabari Public School, Satgaon, Kamrup (M).

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, acting on intelligence inputs, an STF team led by Inspector Kapil Pathak conducted another raid at Lalmati, under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station. During this operation, one drug peddler was apprehended with 27 vials containing 36 grams of heroin, along with cash and a mobile handset.

Investigations are currently ongoing to delve deeper into the network and activities of those involved in these illegal drug operations.
