Meghalaya: Search Operation Launched for Missing Teen in Wahumkhrah River

Northeast Desk, 24th June: The Meghalaya Special Response Team and State Disaster Response Force have initiated an extensive search operation to locate the body of a 16-year-old boy who drowned in the Wahumkhrah River. The teenager, a resident of Urkaliar, Meghalaya, had gone to swim in the river when he was overwhelmed by a strong current.

According to reports, the boy was swimming alone at the time of the incident, despite being accompanied by friends to the riverfront. The distressing event prompted a swift response from police personnel, who formed four teams to conduct a thorough search.

One of the search teams extended their efforts as far as the Mawlai Bridge, but unfortunately, they were unable to locate the boy’s body. The search operation is set to resume on the morning of June 24, as authorities continue their efforts to bring closure to this tragic incident.
