Manipur CM N Biren Singh Applauds NHIDCL for Completing Long-Neglected NH-137 Project
Northeast Desk, 28th June: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has praised the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) for successfully completing the construction of a 2-Lane road with paved shoulders for the Tamenglong-Tousem-Lisang-Mahur Road (NH-137), marking the end of a 70-year period of neglect.
Singh extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, for their support in this crucial developmental project. Taking to social media platform X, Singh lauded NHIDCL and the Centre for their commitment to enhancing connectivity in Manipur.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, and the dedicated team at NHIDCL for their commitment and support in improving the connectivity in the state,” wrote CM Biren Singh.
The completed stretch of NH-137 runs from Km 10 near Dialong Village to Km 31 near Barak River, providing a vital link for the region. Singh also highlighted the recent completion of key bridges on the Imphal-Jiribam highway, including Makru, Irang, and Barak bridges, which have significantly improved infrastructure in Manipur.
NHIDCL, sharing details of the project on X, emphasized their dedication to completing infrastructural projects that contribute to regional growth and connectivity.
The completion of these projects underscores the Manipur government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and connectivity across the state, benefiting local communities and fostering economic development.
