Security Forces Conduct Major Operations in Manipur, Recover Improvised Mortar

Northeast Desk, 2nd July: Security forces have ramped up search and area domination activities across the vulnerable hill and valley districts of Manipur. These operations, focused on bolstering safety and security in the region, resulted in the recovery of an improvised long-range mortar, known as a Pumpi, along with a live shell in Churachandpur District.

In addition to recovering the mortar, security forces facilitated the movement of 319 and 184 vehicles along National Highways 37 and 2, respectively, ensuring the transportation of essential items. Stringent security measures have been put in place at vulnerable locations, with security convoys escorting vehicles through sensitive areas to guarantee their safe and uninterrupted passage.

A total of 125 Nakas (checkpoints) have been established across various districts in Manipur, encompassing both hill and valley regions. These rigorous checks led to the detention of 68 individuals for various violations, underscoring the commitment of security forces to maintain order and security.

These efforts are part of ongoing operations aimed at maintaining peace and stability in Manipur, addressing security concerns, and preventing potential threats in the region.
