Sikkim Gears Up for ‘A Day for Mother Earth’ Initiative on July 7
Northeast Desk, 6th July: Sikkim is gearing up to observe ‘A Day for Mother Earth’ on July 7, 2024, a tradition inaugurated by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang in 2019 and celebrated annually with fervor.
As part of this environmental initiative, all vehicular movement across the state will come to a halt from 11:00 am to 11:07 am on July 7. This brief pause aims to heighten awareness about environmental conservation, particularly in combating global warming and climate change. Traffic police have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with this directive, while exemptions will be granted for vehicles engaged in emergency and essential services.
The initiative underscores Sikkim’s commitment to environmental stewardship and seeks active participation from all stakeholders to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.
