Meghalaya: AMKA Announces Annual Karate Championship for Students

Northeast Desk, 8th July: The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) has scheduled its annual karate championship for school and college students from August 22-24. The event will be hosted at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall of the Sports Authority of India’s Shillong Training Centre on the NEHU campus.

This championship marks the 30th Inter School and 12th Inter College Karate Tournament, organized by AMKA with the support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya. The three-day competition is expected to attract hundreds of karatekas from various educational institutions.

Participants will compete in kumite (sparring) and kata (form) events. The tournament has a notable history of nurturing talent, with many past participants advancing to represent Meghalaya and India in national and international competitions.

Last year’s top winners included St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School (inter-school boys), OM Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School (inter-school girls), and St Anthony’s College (college category).
