Manipur: Major Arms and Explosives Cache Unearthed by Security Forces in Hill and Valley Districts

Northeast Desk, 9th July: In a significant security operation, forces conducted extensive search and area domination exercises in the hill and valley districts, leading to the discovery of a substantial cache of arms and explosives.

During the operation in Tamenglong district, the security personnel uncovered a hidden stockpile of weapons and materials in Phaitol village. The items recovered included:

  • A locally made .303 rifle
  • Two single-barrel rifles
  • A 12-bore locally made rifle
  • Two country-made .32mm pistols with magazines
  • Seven pompi bombs
  • Five handmade explosive bombs
  • Vials of gunpowder
  • Detonators
  • Empty 12-bore cartridges
  • Safety fuse wire
  • Rifle slings
  • Walkie-talkie chargers
  • Bulletproof jackets
  • Iron plates for bulletproofing
  • Combat dresses
  • Hunting shoes and jungle boots
  • A loaded pompi gun
  • A Motorola walkie-talkie
  • Helmets
  • Catapults
  • Torch lights
  • Mobile chargers
  • A waist belt
  • A cap
  • An extension cord
  • A switch board
  • A laptop with a mouse
  • Smartphones and a keypad phone
  • A power bank
  • 247 live rounds of ammunition
  • Metal splinters
  • A Rs. 200 note

In a related operation in Churachandpur district, two improvised pompi bombs were recovered, highlighting the persistent threat posed by homemade explosives.

These operations are part of a broader effort to stabilize and secure the region by targeting areas identified as potential hotspots for insurgent activities. The seized items are now under investigation to determine their origins and intended use, as security forces continue their vigilance to ensure regional safety.
