Manipur Security Forces Arrest KCP Members and Ganja Smuggler in Separate Incidents

Northeast Desk, 9th July: In a significant operation, security forces in Manipur arrested two active members of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) – Taibanganba group. The arrests occurred near Dhaka Brick Field under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal District. The apprehended individuals, identified as Wangjam Mukesh Singh alias Koba (41) from Bishnupur Ward No. I and Thokchom Ajit Singh alias Commander (33) from Kakching Ningthou Leikai, were caught attempting to extort money from the public.

During the operation, security personnel recovered 26 extortion demand letters from the KCP (Taibanganba) group, a Hyundai Xcent car, and two mobile phones with SIM cards from the suspects’ possession.

In a separate incident on the same day, Manipur Police arrested Ngangom Berlin Meitei (27) at Imphal International Airport. Meitei was found with three transparent plastic containers containing approximately 2.31 kg of suspected ganja. Additionally, a mobile handset, an Aadhaar card, a PAN card, and a boarding pass for Indigo flight no. 6E-6807 were seized from him.

These arrests underscore the ongoing efforts of Manipur’s security forces to combat extortion and drug trafficking in the region, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and enforcement to maintain law and order.
