Assam: Vice Principal of Swahid Jadav Nath Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital Dies by Suicide
Guwahati, 9th July: In a devastating turn of events, Dr. Narayan Debnath, Vice Principal of Swahid Jadav Nath Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, was discovered deceased by apparent suicide on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at his residence within the college premises located in Barbari, Guwahati.
Dr. Debnath, aged 57, was found hanging in his quarters around 5:45 am by students residing nearby, who promptly alerted authorities. The motive behind this tragic act remains under investigation, leaving the community shocked and saddened by the sudden loss.
A resident of Doboka in Lanka, Dr. Debnath had been residing with his family at the college quarters for the past year. However, his family was reportedly away from Guwahati at the time of the incident. Besides his tenure at the medical college, he had also invested in property in Nagaon.
At present, his body awaits retrieval for a post-mortem examination, pending the arrival of a magistrate. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his untimely demise.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the institution and its community, as they grapple with the loss of a respected educator and administrator.
