Arunachal Pradesh Fish Farmers Honored at National Fish Farmers’ Day
Northeast Desk, 11th July: Two local fish farmers from Arunachal Pradesh, Yamoty Pigyor and Kesang Naksang, received accolades during the 24th National Fish Farmers’ Day celebrated on July 10. They were recognized for their exceptional contributions to trout culture and the promotion of cold water fisheries in the state.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu shared the news on social media, highlighting their achievements as pivotal to the success of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the government’s flagship initiative aimed at revolutionizing fisheries across India.
“We are proud of our fish farmers’ achievements and rely on their continued support to advance our vision,” Khandu expressed in his post.
The state government expressed its pride in Yamoty Pigyor and Kesang Naksang’s accomplishments, emphasizing the importance of their expertise in enhancing fishery practices and productivity in Arunachal Pradesh.
The recognition of these farmers underscores their significant role in contributing to the blue revolution envisioned by PMMSY, symbolizing a step forward in sustainable aquaculture and economic development in the region.
