Assam: Lynching Incident Shocks Dibrugarh;Youth Allegedly Killed in Retaliation Attack
Guwahati, 11th July: A disturbing incident unfolded in Dibrugarh district as 24-year-old Tomlu Sonar was tragically lynched by a group of youths in the Alubari locality on Wednesday night, July 10. According to sources, the attack, led by a youth named Deepjyoti Rajbongshi accompanied by approximately 11-12 others, was reportedly a retaliatory act stemming from a previous altercation.
Tomlu suffered severe injuries during the brutal assault and was rushed to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Tomlu succumbed to his injuries the following day, Thursday, July 11.
“I want justice for my deceased husband. His food pipe was ruptured due to continuous beating. All 11 involved in the incident should be arrested immediately and given stringent punishment,” expressed the grieving wife of Tomlu Sonar.
Tomlu’s mother, devastated by the loss, recounted the shock and anguish upon learning of her son’s condition. “My sweet and simple son. He would move out of home early in the morning. But they finished him,” she lamented.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, prompting demands for swift and stringent action against the perpetrators. Dibrugarh police have initiated an inquiry into the incident to determine the underlying cause of the brutal attack.
The tragic demise of Tomlu Sonar has left his family and the community in profound shock and mourning, highlighting the urgent need for justice and accountability in cases of such heinous acts.
